Facts to know before going for a yacht charter holiday to Greece

Tourists are attracted to a yacht Greek holiday but tourists need to consider various factors before setting off for a yacht holiday in Greece. Following these tips can help one fully enjoy the yachting in Greece making the money and time spent worthwhile.

Choosing the right time to go

The best time to go on a yachting Greece holiday is during spring and autumn. It is during these two seasons that the weather is very suitable for yachting and the mainland has fewer tourists. During May, June and September, the daytimes are hot while it pleasant during the nights. The Cyclades islands have strong winds blowing during the months of July and August. From March to the early days of November, the season is favorable for a yacht holiday.

The type of charter needed

Fun of a yacht charter holiday also depends of the type of yacht you choose. The type of charter that you need would depend mainly on your company. If your party is huge, you can go for double berths aboard. To make your holiday exciting, you can choose a motor yacht, a sailing yacht, or even a motor sailor. According to European regulations, tourists are required to keep two qualified people aboard. This is mainly for security reasons and for keeping tourists in complete comfort.

Decide the duration of your trip

To enjoy your yachting holiday in Greece, you need to spend at least 7 days in a yacht. The duration you would like to spend depends completely on your choice. Several charter companies have good knowledge of the local areas.

Sailing Catamarans

The lagoon boat types are excellent for someone looking to charter and learn how to sail on a catamaran. The experts say that in your first trips in the sea, it is wiser to sail a mid-length boat than a small or a really big one. The medium length boats behave better in the sea; a fact that makes them easier to be sailed by novice users. The catamaran sailing experience is unique and you will remember it for all your life.

Make a proper start though, do your lessons, get your diploma, rent an experienced skipper and sail on! The big boy of the lagoon family is the lagoon 620, in which, eight people can sleep as it has four cabins. Its length is about 19 meters and it can be hard to turn if you are not experienced enough. Also, bigger boats are difficult to cope with when the wind is stronger than usual. Learn on the smaller ones. Try to avoid the really small ones. For example, two lagoon catamarans which are perfect for first time experience are the lagoon 440 and the lagoon 380. Not many differences among them, in terms of amenities and tools and their lengths are similar, ranging from 11 to 12.5 meters. A good skipper is what you are looking for. Watch, speak, listen and learn. Ask your questions and monitor closely the entire skipper’s moves in order to understand how the experienced personnel cope with certain situations. Next year, if you feel safe, you can give it a try on your own. Leave fewer responsibilities to the skipper and try to sail the catamaran on your own in order to learn. After all, the time that you and your friends will be sailing alone is not that far!

Sailing Catamarans - Lagoon 380

There are many ways to explore the beauty of the Greek islands. Sailing is the best one by far. Catamarans offer a really special experience when it comes to sailing. Lagoon 380 remains the king of them, at least for me, as my bonding with it is tight. This type of catamaran is easy to sail, relatively safe for beginners and delivers a lot of fun in maneuvering.

Even if many boat models have been thrown in the market ever since the Lagoon 380 sailed for the first time, it remains the king of the kings, enjoying too many fans worldwide. Its vertical glazing design provides space optimization and it can be found with three or four rooms. The success of the specific boat type relies in the efficiency and the simplicity of the design. Its enormous windows provide natural light for the cabins and its very easy to reach the sea level from its platforms. Note that although the this model of Lagoon is ideal for non-expert skippers, it does not compromise speed for safety. With the appropriate winds and an experienced skipper, it can reach very high speeds. Its wide all around decks makes it even safer for walking around the main salon and the cabins. The interior is mostly expensive woodwork in order to make it pleasant for overnight gatherings.

Personally, I will not think much when it comes to deciding which type of catamaran I will hire. My own experience is a guide for the future as me and my family had the most memorable and unforgettable holidays on the specific boat.
